Birthday Girl: Low Spice

Let's talk about Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas. If you are just graduating from Twilight and Colleen Hoover, this is a fantastic choice. This work of art introduces age gap and a twist on "daddy" kinks.

A small blurb:

A typical small town. One where people typically live all their lives and never leave. Never grow. Never prosper. A girl full of making better for herself. A crappy boyfriend who is lazy and does not deserve the girl. She meets a man.... a much older man. Their romance is a slow burn. Painfully slow. Thanks to a series of events, every day the passion for each other comes more and more irresistible. But will they cross that line? Does she have the heart to leave her boyfriend for a life that she never could have imagined?

SPOILER:

Can we talk about the slow burning and painful romance between them? Each time they lock eyes or are in each others proximity, you can just feel the need for the two to hop into the sheets together. While this book is a low spice rating, it is none the less of a very good read. Penelope does a fantastic job of keeping you engaged (wink) and on the edge of your seat.

From the first encounter on the wall to the final chapters of their happy ever after, you just want more and more. I do wish there was more dirty smut because I am nosy, and want to know ever little detail of their relationship and all the sparks, but the slow burn and the "taboo" of the relationship are just enough for a beginner smut reader.

Happy Reading!
